The Gold Mine of Problem Solving

Have we unlearned how to learn?

Are the techniques we've be taught serve us?

For most that have endured institutionalized schooling, they've had 15,000 hours of conditioning that achieved what?

Let's start this story with a fighter pilot. "40 sec Boyd" one of the best fighter pilots ever. He could be in an enemy's gun sight and within 40 seconds he would have turned the tables. How did he achieve such tremendous consistent results? Accelerated learning. He called it the OODA loop. He suggested the pilot that can process OODA loops faster, was the one more likely to win a dogfight.

The OODA loop represents a problem-solving process. A way of thinking, a perspective, that delivers an alternative to what most people consider "learning". It delivers on three different aspects. Hard skills - Technical development; Soft skills - People skills; Ethics - learning excellence. Interesting that this comes from a military man?

When your life is on the line, finding the best solution can be paramount.

Problem solving develops an amazing amount of skills and abilities. Finesse with these skills comes from consistent repetition. The best predictor of the future is what you are doing in the present. Wouldn't it be in our best interests to be problem-solving regularly?

These skills are essential for intellectual self-defenses that relatively few have.  To be able to step beyond the typical emotional and psychological mind control perspective that most find themselves caught in. To deliver intelligence... beneficial for both one's self and others.

The best predictor of the future is to look at the present actions and practices. If people incorporate problem-solving into their daily routines their future will improve. God forbid the common man learns to solve his own problems... the government will be screwed!

We are living our story. Some may think of it as a hero's journey. Joseph Campbell's model is one... but there could be several. Certainly, it could be compared to a wave form. With maximum risk at maximum happiness and maximum opportunity at maximum sadness and disappointment.

Having problem-solving skills in an environment where many people are suffering from things like fear, panic, despondency and depression means there is much opportunity to realize. Our lives extend beyond us. What we are is also our relationships. Developing trusting relationships, having faith in people when they have little faith in themselves could be the greatest builder of trust in the given situation.
